Hospice Care

Hospice is a program of competent, appropriate and loving care for the terminally ill and their families. Hospice at St. Anthony provides active treatment for pain and symptom-management to promote comfort in a life-affirming environment. Hospice care neither hastens nor delays the end of life. Instead, it allows the resident to live as fully as possible. Private rooms may be available for hospice care.

Hospice at St. Anthony Health Center has these goals:

  • To help residents make the most of each day
  • To support family, friends and caregivers as they care for their loved ones
  • To ensure comfort through pain and symptom control

Hospice is Not Limited by Diagnosis

Though many hospice residents have cancer, people with other end-stage diseases affecting major organs of the body, such as the kidneys, liver, lung, brain or spinal cord, may benefit from hospice care. St. Anthony partners with all Medicare-certified hospice providers in the metropolitan area.

The Medicare Hospice Benefit Covers:

  • Nursing services
  • Physician services
  • Drugs for pain relief
  • Medical supplies and appliances
  • Medical social services
  • Spiritual and other counseling
  • Volunteer services
  • Bereavement services
