The History of St. Anthony

It’s been said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step and St. Anthony Health Center was The Goodman Group’s first such step down our journey into senior living and skilled nursing.

St. Anthony opened in 1967, and at the time its combination of senior care and nursing was on the cutting edge. Led by Marian Post, who herself was an innovator. Marion was the first female Nursing Home Administrator in Minnesota and the first woman inducted as a Fellow into the American College of Nursing Home Administration.

The community showed it filled an obvious need, being immediately successful. That success has continued to today, thanks in large part to Marion Post and the continuity she created. Current Executive Director, Michael Miller, Marian’s son-in-law, is only the second person to hold that position in the 40 years of St. Anthony’s existence and he upholds her dedication to compassion and excellence.

With St. Anthony, The Goodman Group took an important first step on a journey that has carried us across the country and beyond the shores of America. For 40 years we’ve continued to grow and expand upon the work that all began at St. Anthony Health Center.
